The Antidote to Coldness

When we feel love cooling, the response is not to try harder, but to turn back to the Source. Romans 5:5 assures us that "God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." The way to keep our love burning is by continuously receiving God’s love and intentionally pouring it out to others. Love is like a fire: it must be fed (through devotion) and shared (through service) to stay alive. The more we choose compassion and forgiveness in a cold world, the brighter our light shines.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What is one concrete act of love (service, kindness, generosity, forgiveness) I can practice for my neighbor or a fellow believer today, even if I don't "feel" like it?
  2. How does dwelling on the cross (God’s ultimate act of love) re-ignite my gratitude and obedience?
  3. Am I actively participating in a community (a church, small group) that helps me feed my faith and share my love? If not, what is my next step?
