An update to the case of the Delaware County mom charged with manslaughter after police in Maine found her 3-year-old daughter dead in her car. Kelly Brown, of Havertown, now claims she was swept away in a river on Saturday while they were camping, leaving her daughter trapped inside a car. Court documents show her dog was also trapped in the car with the toddler for 15 hours; both died of heat exhaustion. Authorities say Brown didn't return to the car until first responders were already on the scene. Family members had reported Brown and her daughter, Fiona, missing earlier in the week. They told police they were worried because Brown had been acting strange recently. Brown is currently in custody in Maine on $50,000 bail.…

President Donald Trump says he's putting the Washington, D.C. police department under federal control, saying that crime is an "emergency." However, data show that crime is at a 30-year low in the city. D.C.'s attorney general calls the move "unprecedented, unnecessary, and unlawful." And, Trump says his police takeover won’t stop at Washington. He talked about expanding the effort to other cities that are, like Philadelphia, Democratic strongholds, though legal experts say he would be on shakier ground.
