Pritam Singh, who is the Leader of the Opposition and head of the Workers’ Party, was convicted after a 13-day trial in 2024 for providing false statements under oath on 10 and 15 December 2021.
This ruling makes him the first sitting opposition MP in nearly 40 years to be convicted of a criminal offence.
