Federal Judge Blocks Justice Department from Using Certain Evidence in Comey Re-indictment AttemptA federal judge has temporarily halted the Justice Departments use of specific evidence in their efforts to re-indict former FBI Director James Comey. This decision comes after Comeys initial case was dismissed due to an unlawfully appointed prosecutor. The evidence in question involves communications between Comey and his friend, Columbia University law professor Daniel Richman. Richmans lawyers argued that prosecutors exceeded the scope of search warrants, illegally held onto communications, and conducted unauthorized searches. The judge agreed, issuing a temporary restraining order and creating another obstacle for the Justice Department in their pursuit of charges against Comey.
