When Lonnie was just a kid, he’d hear his dad, Jimmy, having fun with and talking about friends like Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker and Sammy Davis Junior. So, it seems like a no-brainer that Lonnie, as a solo artist and paired with his brother Ronald as The McFadden Brothers, would find a life on stage. But, the road to the spotlight was not with bumps and curves. There are plenty of laughs and good times here but also serious talk about race and meaningful memories about growing up with a Mother who made sure the home stayed intact. And, how the life of being an entertainer almost destroyed everything that mattered before that same music saved it all. Lonnie says six little words a lot these days.
