Blacks in America are being hit by COVID-19 three times more than Whites. With the Coronavirus attacking and killing African-Americans at an alarming rate, I had to know why - especially with April being National Minority Health Awareness Month.

Dr. Columbus Batiste, the Division Chief of Cardiology at Kaiser Permanente, gives us some insights as to why this deadly virus is devastating the Black community. The Healthy Heart Doc also points out that while the Coronavirus has exposed America's "dirty little secret," it's also a critical wake up for the minority community to change it's approach to eating, exercise and prioritizing good health.

Dr. Batiste’s mission is to share information so that “each one can teach one” about the benefits of exercise and healthy eating and therefore; provide everyone with the opportunity to take control of their health. Through the Healthy Heart Doc page on Facebook, Dr. Batiste is dedicated not only to provide information, but also to provide a community of support for people on the road to a healthy lifestyle and a healthy heart.
