Have you ever wondered why certain movies scare you more than others? Why do some movies scare you, even years later and after repeat viewing? Why do certain sounds make you feel uneasy? How do horror movies reflect our own history?

Nightmare Fuel answers all of these questions and many more! Nina explores our fears through the lenses of biology, psychology, and physiology in a very comprehensive process. And Nina also watched 274 horror films for research--that's right 274! But Nightmare Fuel is not some dry textbook; it's so entertaining and humorous to read!

That's because Nina also works as a science communicator at Science North in Sudbury, Ontario, developing content for exhibits, workshops, and programs for school groups and public audiences in English and French.

With Halloween around the corner, this is a great book for your resident horror movie fan, for your Halloween party (like we said ... so fun to read!), or for everyone else who wants to understand that unique, visceral, sometimes paralyzing emotion that impacted our ancient ancestors so much that it became bio-coded in all of us ... the emotion of fear.
