Homework time can be a battle for any family, but for children with ASD, it often brings unique challenges. In this episode, I’m sharing my personal experience as a parent of children with autism who mask at school, only to feel overwhelmed and frustrated when it’s time to tackle homework at home.
I’ll explain why masking, perfectionism, and sensory challenges make homework especially tough, and why teachers might not always see the full picture. Most importantly, I’ll share the strategies that have worked for us: starting early, breaking tasks into manageable steps, making homework fun, and creating a supportive environment that meets their needs.
Whether you’re a parent struggling with similar challenges or looking for practical tips to make homework time more manageable, this episode is packed with relatable stories and actionable ideas to help your family thrive.
