Last May, I attended a conference in Miami where I gave three talks. It was intense – two back-to-back sessions and one main stage appearance. Unfortunately, right after the event, I came down with COVID, which knocked me out for two weeks. My sister, Enoma, who traveled with me, only caught a cold and recovered quickly, thanks to her handy wellness kit. I didn't have one, and I definitely felt the difference.

As I prepare for Make Your Mark Live in Dallas, I'm putting together my own travel wellness kit to ensure I stay healthy and feel my best.

* Throat Lozenges & Cough Drops: I don't know what it is about being in tight spaces or rooms with lots of people, but my throat gets itchy pretty quickly in these spaces. A honey cough drop soothes instantly, and lozenges like Cepacol are great for coughs and persistent throat irritation.

* Immune Boosters: Emergen-C is my go-to for a quick immune system boost.

* Multi-purpose Moisturizer: Carrying a bunch of travel-size lotions isn’t the move. A single, good quality moisturizer like Aquaphor keeps my bag light. It's great for scrapes, dry skin, and really locking in moisture.

* Instant Honey and Ginger Tea: Ginger Honey Crystals from Prince of Peace have never failed me! They soothe my throat and help with congestion. I also bring my own honey packets in case I run low on ginger tea.

* Instant Coffee and Creamer: My go-tos are Starbucks instant coffee and Copper Cow pour-overs. For creamer, I stick with Copper Cow’s sweetened condensed milk because the single-serve packets are just so easy to work with.

* Wipes: I include wet wipes for digital devices, glasses, hands, and body to stay clean and fresh.

* Pillbox: To keep vitamins and medications organized.

Do you have any pre or post-event routines that you can’t do without? Share your tips with me; I’m always looking for new ways to improve my routine.
