Personas are made-up characters that represent different types of customers, based on real data around things like their age, job, goals, challenges, hopes, desires, etc. They help marketers understand who they're talking to so they can create content that connects. Good stuff.
And while AI is not a 100% replacement for human-based interviews and input (far from it!), it can speed up some parts of the traditional persona process that used to take months.
