Seeing with the Eyes of Our Hearts

“so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may perceive what is the hope to which he has called you” - from Ephesians 1:18

In contemporary times we see the heart and the mind as opposites. Our minds tell us one thing. Our hearts tell us something else. We engage in a type of dualistic or dichotomous thinking.

It was less so in the ancient world. The concepts of the heart and mind were more unified. There are even places where the same word was translated both ways.

We have to recover the unity of the heart and mind if we are to experience that type of visions and develop the type of hope that leads us to radically transforming ourselves and the world around us.

Facts and data, reason and logic empower us most when they are viewed through the prisms of love and compassion, empathy, understanding, and hope.

We have to allow ourselves to see the world through the eyes of our hearts.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
