Melinda Wenner Moyer is an award-winning contributing editor at Scientific American magazine and a regular contributor to The New York Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, and other national magazines and newspapers. She is a faculty member in NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. Her first book, which we talk a lot about, was published in July 2021. Excerpts have been published in The New York Times, The Atlantic, and Parents magazine, and the book is being translated into seven languages. In How To Raise Kids Who Aren’t Assholes, Melinda voices her fear on what it takes to raise our children through adversity and includes research to back it up. Every parent wants to raise kids who aren’t racist, sexist, have a healthy self-esteem, are ambitious, and grow up to be all-around good people. Listen in as we take a deep dive into different aspects of the book and also a viral newsletter that she recently wrote that struck my attention as well as many other readers called Covid Parenting Past the Point of Absurdity. The piece speaks to parents struggling through the chaos of the pandemic and validating the feelings that came along with it.
