This sermon, based on 1 Corinthians 15:50–58, addresses the Christian's confidence in the face of death. Benjamin describes death as a powerful and painful enemy—an unnatural separation of soul and body, bringing fear, judgment, and sorrow. Even believers may struggle as death approaches, as illustrated through Pilgrim's Progress. Yet, the gospel declares that through Jesus Christ—His death, resurrection, and perfect obedience—death has lost its sting. Though not yet destroyed, death is defeated and weakened for the believer. Paul's taunt in verse 55 ("O death, where is your sting?") expresses the Christian's bold assurance. This confidence yields thanksgiving and motivates steadfast, gospel-driven work, knowing it is never in vain. The sermon closes with invitations: for unbelievers to come to Christ, for believers to grow in assurance, and for all to witness boldly and labour faithfully for the Lord, drawing from historic Christian examples of courage and conviction.
