This chapter introduces Haman, the enemy of the Jews and a type of Satan, the arch-enemy of God's people. The sermon details the extent of the man's wickedness including his pride, exemplified in the extreme measures he took against the one man who refused to acknowledge his authority. Benjamin discusses whether it was right for Mordecai to refuse to submit to the king's command, and applies his example to our own day where evil regimes seek to pressurise Christians to bow to their anti-God agendas. Mordecai's courage and faith are an encouragement to all true believers in an age of increasing hostility against Christ and his church.
