In today’s episode I had so much fun talking with Christi Smith-Ryan who is the Strength Coach for Central Catholic HS in Portland Oregon. Earlier this year she she was awarded the best Strength & Conditioning coach in the state or Oregon!
Not only is she a fantastic coach and mentor, but one of the greatest athletes to ever step foot on a track. She’s a 7-time Track & Field Hall of Fame inductee and broke every single record when she competed at college in the University of Akron in Ohio.
In this conversation we discussed:
- Her mindset and perspective on life that helped her to be confident and motivated as a youth athlete
- The importance of being grounded and filling up your cup
- Ways that parents and coaches can help keep girl athletes in the sport
- The biggest lessons she strives to impart on the athletes she works with
- Tips for getting beginning a new school year
