Welcome to Season 5, Episode 18! The Daily Show is one of our favorite shows for so many reasons… hilarious segments, a diverse cast, and awesome writing are just a few reasons. The Daily Show is also where so many people have been introduced to the very talented Troy Iwata.

Troy is, of course, also known for several other things that include his roles as Langston on the feel good Netflix holiday series Dash & Lily, Damien Saito in the AppleTV+ series WeCrashed, and as an understudy on Broadway in the viral hit musical Be More Chill. Suffice to say that Troy Iwata is a very talented and hilarious entertainer.

This is Part 1 of a a two-part conversation. In this episode, we talk with Troy about his initial foray into entertainment, what Broadway was like with Be More Chill, what was special about his experience on Dash & Lily, his comfort with comedic roles, getting on The Daily Show as a correspondent, how opportunities have come to him, and more.

His latest film project is Summoning Sylvia, a queer-horror-comedy in which he stars alongside Michael Urie, Frankie Grande, and several others. You can catch Troy on the Daily Show, on his Instagram posts, and in this episode!
