Geoff Lindsey is a writer, director and pronunciation coach.
He talks about the crucial skill of reality testing your work on a live audience, the significance of reframing ‘bad’ events, the importance of not being too precious about your work, the significance of adaptability in any creative profession, the correlation between hard work and luck and so much more.
Geoff trained as a director at the Bournemouth Film School and he has an MA from UCL and an MA and PhD from University of California Los Angeles and worked as a lecturer in phonetics at University College in London. He directed Michael Palin in ‘How to Use your Coconuts’ in ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ and musician LangLang and actress Heather Graham in ‘The Flying Machine'. He also wrote episodes for ‘Eastenders’, ‘The Bill’ and created the screenplay and arranged the music for the Oscar shortlisted film ‘Magic Piano’. He was interviewed by
Stephen Fry on the BBC radio series 'Fry's English Delight'. He also published his book 'English After RP' in 2019 about which famous phonetician and esperantist John C Wells said “It is a book I wish I had written myself – but I don’t think I would have been able to make such a good job of it”.
