This episode highlights the research of Mr. Perez on the prehistoric earthquakes from the Surigao segment of the Philippine Fault.
Mr. Jeffrey S. Perez is a licensed geologist and a Supervising Science Research Specialist at PHIVOLCS. He is a graduate of BS Geology from the UP Diliman and gained a Master of Engineering Major in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Saitama University, Japan. He has also taken graduate school units at Kyoto University, Japan. He was a recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Young Scientists Award by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST, Ph) and the DOST International Publication Award (2015, 2018, 2021 and 2023). In 2018, he was one of the eight (8) Filipinos who were part of the Asian Scientist 100 list. Currently, he supervises the Disaster Risk Reduction Research and Development Section of PHIVOLCS.
