We’re on campus at Griffith University (Nathan) with three inspiring women: Harmony Tree, Treasurer and Founding Member; Alpa, Vice-President; and Lana, incoming President of the Griffith Women in Engineering (WIE) Club. Two years ago, the club didn’t exist — today, it’s thriving, creating connection, confidence, and career opportunities for women across disciplines.

In this episode, we explore how they rebuilt a community from scratch, the three pillars driving their impact — Professional Development, Social, and Outreach — and how they’re using mentorship, industry collaboration, and friendship to make engineering more inclusive, exciting, and human.

Impactful Lessons and Quotes

“The community around the club is the best thing about the club.”

“Professional development, social, and outreach — that’s what makes our club special.”

“As engineers, we need to know how to have fun, how to communicate, how to develop soft skills.”

“I’m really keen to open up more opportunities for everyone and get more industry engagement.”
