"The truth is they look across the courtroom and think to themselves, she or he probably did it."

Welcome Scott Turow:

We’re joined on the Starline by an author, lawyer, New York Times bestseller and 2023 Fuller Award winner for lifetime achievement who has written more than a dozen books including “Suspect” and “Presumed Innocent”. He returns to answer an important question in “Presumed Guilty”. We welcome our friend Scott Turow.

Scott, let’s go Beyond the Mic. You’ve practiced law, can there be true justice for those who are presumed guilty?

Your character Rusty Sabich is back one more time, trying to enjoy retirement, when all hell

breaks loose. How do you relate to Rusty?

What’s the one thing about him that makes him such an unique character and was one thing you almost decided to do with him, but changed your mind?

The Rockin' 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. Every time we talk it’s the cold and gray of winter, which you dislike. Where is the one place you love to vacation?

2. Class in law school that you loved unconditionally?

3. One of my favorite quotes of yours “If life’s lessons could be reduced to single sentences, there would be no need for fiction.” So, what’s the one life lesson that was hardest for you to learn?

4. One chore that Adriane depends on you to do?

5. Name of the teacher who would be proud of you for becoming a writer?

6. Do you remember the 1st book you checked out of a library?

7. Three best writers right now?

8. Favorite bookstore of all time?

Sneaking in a Couple More:

Jake Gyllenhaal has done an amazing job playing Rusty Sabich for “Presumed Innocent” on Apple TV+. When you saw the first episode what emotions went through you?

Do you think your “Pleading Guilty” pilot could have made it today, with the success you have had with “Presumed Innocent”?

When you go out on tour, meeting your fans, and signing books what does their fandom and their support mean to you?

Do you feel that law has changed for the better and or the worse the last twenty years and how can it be fixed?

One Big Question:

What is the one problem you see with judicial appointments today, and how do we fix it?

The Wrap:

He’s a weather slut who hates the analysis of literature, and wants you to read “Presumed Guilty”, the father of the legal thriller, Scott Turow, thanks as always for taking the time to talk with us today.

And that my friends is Beyond the Mic.
