We chatted with Elisabeth Lee Richmond, Meta-Capital, LLC to talk about house hacking.

Elisabeth Richmond was raised in the real estate industry; her father’s portfolio was a mix of tax liens, fix-and-flips, and Section 8 housing, while her mother hosted luxury vacation rentals, years before the existence of Airbnb.

As a senior in high school, Elisabeth watched how the 2008 recession affected each of her parent’s businesses, finally creating a hybrid method of her own. She began purchasing distressed properties, taking two years to create a home with an active short-term rental business, then selling the property as a package. During COVID, Elisabeth decided to pursue a full-time career in the short-term rental industry, leaving her middle-school teaching position behind. With a passion for house-hacking, many of Elisabeth’s clients are new investors, looking for creative ways to generate income.
