Sermon: What Motivates You?

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:11-15

'For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames. '

Live with Eternity in View...

For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.

Why?

1. This ONE LIFE determines where you will live the next life.

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?

-Mark 8:36

Man goes to his eternal home and mourners go about the streets.

-Ecclesiastes 12:5

1. This ONE LIFE determines the rewards of the next life.

For me to LIVE is Christ, and to die is gain.

-Philippians 1:21

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.

-Matthew 16:27

CONCLUSION: Eternal life has to be received in this life!
