Hey everyone! Welcome back to our Advent series. This week, we're diving into the theme of Peace. In John 14:27, Jesus tells His disciples, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you." It's like that moment in The Lord of the Rings when Frodo feels the weight of the journey, and Gandalf offers wisdom that brings comfort and calm.
Jesus isn't offering just any peace; He's giving His peace. The world offers peace that's often temporary—like the fleeting calm you get from binge-watching your favorite show. But the peace Jesus gives is lasting and deep. It calms our hearts even when circumstances are chaotic.
In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Maybe you're stressed about gift shopping, planning gatherings, or meeting year-end deadlines. Jesus says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." He's inviting us to trade our anxiety for His peace.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for the gift of Your peace. Help us to accept it and let it rule in our hearts. When stress and fear creep in, remind us to lean on You. May Your peace guard our hearts and minds today. In Your name, we pray. Amen.
