Our focus now is on vaccine hesitancy, with Unicef putting a slowdown in global immunisation programmes down to growth in vaccine misinformation. WHO figures show 115 million infants received at least one vaccine dose last year, with 122 million needed to reach herd immunity. 22 countries across the world have seen their vaccination rates fall below the required 90 per cent since 2019.
