These new contact lenses let you see infrared light, see in the dark, and see with your eyes closed... Embedded inside the lenses are these special nanoparticles that absorb infrared light we normally can’t see. That infrared light is then converted into wavelengths of light that we CAN see. The lenses are transparent, so you can see normally and detect infrared light. People who tried these out said they could see that infrared light even better with their eyes closed. The scientists were even able to code certain wavelengths of infrared light so you see them as different colors! BUT what you see in infrared is extremely blurry. But the researchers estimate the current version would cost about $200 per pair to make. And they’re trying to increase the range of the electromagnetic spectrum we could see! They want to help colorblind people... and also say you could send secret messages to people wearing them… so... Would you want them??
