Zavier JC, Owner & Founder - Good News Good Brew

Through his innovative blend of coffee culture and ministry, Zavier has created more than just a coffee service; he has built a mobile hub for community connection and conversation. Check out my conversation with Zavier Jean-Charles, the visionary founder of Good News Good Brew, where he shares how he merged his skill as a barista and love of coffee, with his passion for spreading the Gospel. His entrepreneurial journey began with a unique approach: traveling door-to-door with a manual espresso machine, sharing his love for specialty coffee and the Gospel with his community. This grassroots effort evolved into Good News Good Brew, a mobile coffee cart that brings quality coffee directly to neighbors, creatives, students, and professionals while offering opportunities to experience the Gospel message.

Jamal Smart, Filmmaker - Behind The Joy

Jamal Smart stepped out on faith to create a film that shines a light on the impact of postpartum depression. He shares his passion for putting a spotlight on this topic. Jamal began his journey with a camera in hand, shooting music videos. As he interned at production studios and worked on sets for BET, JFK, VH1, and various fashion campaigns and musicians, he realized something was missing. Despite the accolades, he never felt fulfilled by what he was creating. There was an emptiness inside, a longing to make a real impact to leave a message that mattered…something he could proudly show his daughter.

As a result of seeing family members experiencing postpartum depression, he realized that postpartum depression isn’t just a challenge for mothers—it affects everyone around them. The characters in this film showcase how people show up for one another in different ways, and how often we neglect mental health when someone is clearly in need. Raising a child shouldn’t be a burden carried by one person alone; it’s a community effort. Jamal hopes that this film resonates with you and makes you feel the same heartbreak he felt when hearing those stories.
