Days of our Lives sees a twist in the tale about the fate of University Hospital emerges as both EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) vie for its ownership. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) initially backed Xander's bid, but suspicions about his involvement in Phillip Kiriakis' (John-Paul Lavoisier) assault led to a change of heart. EJ takes his generous offer directly to the board, swaying the decision in his favor. Belle Black's (Martha Madison) continued investigation into the assault sees Xander arrested, effectively eliminating him from the bidding process and securing EJ's acquisition of the hospital on the NBC Peacock soap opera.

DOOL sees the focus shifts to John Black's (Drake Hogestyn) final storyline and the return of several characters, including Will Horton (Chandler Massey), Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal). Xander's relationship with Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) crumbles, while Phillip's recovery ushers in a surprising reconciliation with Xander. Also, there is potential for the infamous Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) to return to the hospital scene.
