Proposed by House Energy & Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell, the APRA offers the most comprehensive bipartisan approach yet to a comprehensive national data privacy statute.

But powerful forces have postponed a mark-up of the bill. What’s blocking a deal?

Tune in to Episode 174 for an update on how GOP leaders and civil liberty and pro-privacy advocates threaten to doom this drive to create a national e-commerce code for protecting individual data privacy. Yugo Nagashima, privacy and intellectual property attorney at Frost Brown Todd LLP, and the Data Privacy Detective highlight the obstacles to congressional action.
