On this week’s episode Andrew is joined by Ben, Webby & Josh to discuss how things are going with the Winter Barley harvest so far.
Andrew starts with the difficulties the team are having in pricing it as there is very little guidance out in the trade.
The team mention the issues the stores have been facing with awns blocking up conveyors and elevators this year.
Josh talks about how he thinks the spring barley crops are looking and how he doesn’t have high expectations for what is to come.
Ben explains how Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada have affected the OSR price negatively but hopefully this is just short term.
Andrew recounts how he found a grain weevil larvae in a wheat crop which shows it is not necessarily entirely down to how the grain is stored.
Ian mentions how farmers could sell May 2027 at £190 ex farm or £200 ex store which is a sensible place to sell at for most farms.
