Uttara is afraid that the Brahmastra will kill the child in her womb so she implores Shri Krishna to protect the child. Shri Krishna uses his Sudarshan chakra to protect her womb from destruction. The child is born safely.
If that was not the case then we would not have been able to get the Srimad Bhagavatam today.
