Hope you love this travel guide ep! Here's all things:

Joshua Tree, Palm Springs & Pioneertown

Joshua Tree is a haven Matt and I love to escape to when LA starts to feel all a bit too much. So here’s a few of our fave Joshua Tree things we were able to do with Mum while she’s been visiting America.

  1. LUNA BAKERY
  2. PIONEERTOWN
  3. PAPPI & HARRIETTES
  4. MAJOVE FLEA
  5. TINY PONY

Luna Bakery:

This is a load organic sourdough bakery and I’m just going to say it, this place has the worlds best cinnamon scrolls, they have the perfect amount of tang (I’m guessing that’s from lemon rind), and they heat it up for you. Matt’s a huge fan of their focaccia flats and they change the topping each day.

Pioneertown:

This place is a must every single time we’re visiting Joshua Tree, it’s an old Western Town established in 1946 by a couple of actors back I the day, and it was used to film Westerns in. Def worth a visit if you’re into anything Western or even if you’re a film buff.

Pappy & Harriette’s:

This restaurant and bar is located in Pioneertown so def make sure that this is your dinner spot, its 10/10. Try the 8 year old aged Pappy’s whiskey and def try their ribs. Look out for musical acts because they have some great gigs there. This trip we just so happened to be at P&H’s for the launch of a Mezcal company (its called Illegal Mezcal) and this meant, free drinks, free merch and Boss even scored himself a free tattoo. Mum was rapt with her free merch too!

Mojave Flea:

This is for anyone who loves a spot of shopping, and local shopping at that, it’s full of local designers. There’s one in Palm Springs too, but they carry different things. I would say the Joshua Tree one is my fave! Lots of greta pressies ideas.

Tiny Pony:

Two words: pickle martinis! They’re so yummy, so instead of olive brine they use pickle juice, and it works! And they’re This is a fun dive bar, super chill and def feels like a locals spot which I love. Matt and I shared a burger each, her got the tiny money burger (which was a beef burger) and I got the chicken sand which was a chicken burger (so delish) and mum got the shrimp tacos which she loved. Then we shared an apple pie with ice-cream (which was $6 - barg)!

Honourable mentions:

Brewja Elixir Bar: They make this this eye mind opening later made with blue lotus flower that the boss and I love and get every single time we’re in town. Very hippie vibes, but in the best way

Rabbit Hole Gift Shop: Very cute Joshua Tree goodies, and I picked up a great cowboy hat for $39 so great value!

Joshua Tree Trading Post: Another great gift store vibe, the set up is really cool, easy to go in and just chill out

The Dez: We took Dad here when he was in town last year, they do great brekkie sandos, and they have nice GF bread too.

Joshua Tree Coffee: Sweet little coffee shop and I believe the coffee beans are roasted on site, really nice, always busy on weekends.

PRO TIP:

For Joshua Tree I love discovering new airbnb’s they’re great value this time of the year because the Summer is so hot here. Make sure yours has A/C and a pool comes in really handy too.

PALM SPRINGS:

Righto here’s how we spent 24 hours in Palm Springs

First off, I had to work in the morning in LA so we didn’t leave until midday but that turned out to work out really well with the traffic.

So we arrived at TERRA which is a wellness hotel; complete with ice bath, Himalayan salt sauna, rain room, pool and jacuzzi. Soon after we checked in I had pre booked an Ayurvedic massage, so thats a form of Ancient Indian Medicine, you see we humans have a combo of 3 doshas that essentially make up our constitution, they’re vatta, pitta and kappa. And we each have more dominant and less dominant doshas. So this massage was about calming down my vatta and helping to ground me. It was unreal, it started with a facial and head massage then covered the whole body, I had a brilliant sleep that night too. After the massage to help the special Ayurvedic oils soak in I had a Himalayan salt sauna.

Then we chilled by the pool before meeting Mum for dinner. She really wanted to go to this dinner spot that’s on Cary Grant’s estate, its called Copleys and its a really vibe, lovely outdoor summer vibes. Classic Americano meals and the drinks looks awesome, Bosso and I didn’t have anything to drink that night but Mum loved her Pino Grigio, they are very generous with their portions of both food and drinks in America. We call it a Gold Coast pour! Lol

The waiter told us loads about this estate, apparently Cary Grant lived in a mansion 3 streets away but had this place so other actors could stay here.

We went for a walk downtown Palm Springs after dinner then headed home to watch The Studio which the Bosso and I are loving.

The next morning TERRA had a yummy brekkie spread of granola, yoghurts, toast, coffee and tea. We spent the morning chilling but the pool and they gave us a late check out which was perfect.

Then we picked up Mum, she was hanging for an açai bowl so we got her one, then checked out a thrift shop and the Plan Springs location of Mojave flea (they have another one in Joshua Tree we’ll make sure we see too)
