Manage episode 485422644 series 3293308
Gospel
John 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples:
"I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,
he will guide you to all truth.
He will not speak on his own,
but he will speak what he hears,
and will declare to you the things that are coming.
He will glorify me,
because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.
Everything that the Father has is mine;
for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine
and declare it to you.”
Reflection
The fascinating thing about the work of these young disciples of Jesus is that they had to learn through their experiences of ministry and the work that they were called to do, to grow in their understanding of who God is, who Jesus is, and who the Holy Spirit is. It takes time. It takes diligence. And when we see the work of the advocate as being the one who continues to be the teacher, to be the one who awakens people to what they don't see, there is hope.
Because even though Jesus doesn't walk this earth, the Holy Spirit surrounds us, awakens us to all that is true.
Closing Prayer
Father, we have a task. The task is to open ourselves to what is real. What is true. And we know that if we ever think that we've got it down, that we know everything we need to know, we're in trouble. Open us consistently to learn more and more about who you are and who we are in this world with you. And we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
