If last week’s episode was about hot takes and summer sass, this week’s is a long, slow exhale.

We’re shifting into something quieter and deeper...something that touches all of us, even if we don’t often name it. In a world addicted to instant gratification and easy answers, what does it mean to stay with the discomfort? To resist the urge to fix and instead let healing unfold in its own time?

I’m joined by Julian Bermudez, a therapist and guide whose work is anything but conventional. He helps people reconnect with the truth of who they are, beneath the patterns, beneath the panic, and beneath the need to perform, please, or escape. His approach is gentle and grounded, rooted in presence, curiosity, and the belief that healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you’ve always been.

Topics Covered:

  • Why we crave instant gratification (and how it backfires)
  • The seven emotional circuits that shape our lives
  • How early trauma wires our nervous system
  • The cost of healing shortcuts and surface solutions
  • Why disconnection is at the heart of trauma
  • Using presence and somatic awareness to heal
  • How childhood wounds show up in adult habits
  • What real, lasting healing actually looks like

Here are some actions you can take, whether you have 5 minutes or 50:

  • If you have 5 minutes, take a quiet moment to place a hand on your heart and ask yourself: Where am I craving a quick fix right now? And what might shift if I softened into the process instead of rushing the outcome?
  • If you have 50 minutes, I have an article from Sandstone Care called “Delayed gratification: 7 tips to teach yourself impulse control.”
