The North is not a place most Canadians visit, and with just three federal seats, it's not usually a place political leaders make a priority. But that is changing. Canada's Arctic security and sovereignty are now pressing concerns - both for people who live there, and the rest of Canada. Under the command of U.S. President Donald Trump, America is no longer a reliable partner. Russia is building up its military capability and presence in the Arctic; China calls itself a 'near-Arctic' nation. All of that has thrust Canada's northern frontier into the spotlight. Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai says it's time Canadians paid more attention to the north. Dawna Friesen travels to Whitehorse to speak with him about what voters are concerned about, the heightened tension about influence over the Arctic. The need for more economic investment, as well as streamlining resource projects. Plus, Ranj Pillai's discussion about the North with Donald Trump Jr.
