James Calvert (1813–1892) was a British Methodist missionary best known for his work in Fiji. He arrived in the islands in 1838 and spent nearly two decades ministering there. At the time, Fiji was known for tribal warfare and cannibalism, but Calvert dedicated his life to spreading Christianity, promoting peace, and encouraging social change. His influence helped establish schools, translate the Bible into the Fijian language, and transform much of the spiritual and cultural life of the islands.Thank you for watching!
