In this episode of The Inclusive Dad podcast, host AAron welcomes Kem Frasier, an inspiring educator and leader who shares her journey and powerful insights on creating real inclusion in schools and communities. Together, they explore the importance of mindset, the necessity of intentional leadership, and the critical role both educators and parents play in building environments where everyone belongs. Kem reflects on personal and professional lessons that highlight how inclusion is not just a program, but a practice that transforms lives. This honest and uplifting conversation will challenge and empower you to take meaningful action toward inclusion.

Key Takeaways:

Mindset Shift – True inclusion starts with changing how we think about and value every person.

Intentional Leadership – Inclusion requires leaders to make deliberate, everyday choices that open doors.

Parent-Educator Partnership – Collaboration between families and schools is essential for student success.

Belonging Matters – It’s not just about access—it’s about creating spaces where people feel they belong.

Personal Growth – Supporting inclusion helps everyone involved grow in empathy, patience, and resilience.

Kem’s definition of inclusion:

Inclusion means to include people of all races and disabilities because we all have disabilities, some seen, some not seen.

Kem’s Bio:

I am Kem Frasier, author of Chandler the Handler...You Can't Bully Me! I'm from the Bronx, New York City, former teacher of 18 years, and at present, writer and licensed professional counselor in private practice. Anti-bullying is my cause. I was bullied as a kid growing up in the Bronx so I can relate to the helpless feeling one has when faced with a bully. It's mind over matter; a strategy that has proven successful for me. Try thinking about the bully; what he must feel, the kind of life experienced he or she had to endure. Next step; appeal to his sense of belonging because we all want to belong to something or someone. Next, empower the bully by offering to do something for him/her at no cost. You then begin to make the bully feel like he/she has value that you would ignore the harm he intended for you by giving him/her something that he/she doesn't possess; that is self worth.
