Why do golden retrievers and so many hunting dogs like to carry household items around so much? Why do herding dogs like Australian Shepherds like to round up the kids? Why is the terrier chasing all of the mice and rats? Why is the hound constantly sniffing instead of recalling? There are seasons our dogs do the things they do! Some of it is how they’ve been raised, and environmental factors. Other parts have been shaped through selective breeding over many years. This breeding for traits has ingrained strong natural behaviors in our dogs. It’s can be incredibly healthy for your relationship with them to understand these characteristics.
