“We wanted our patients to feel like nothing was wrong with them. From day one we didn’t call them patients, they were members. Over the next 10 years, I see vision therapy being the household name and Built to Read being what people know.”

Today we’re celebrating our 10th anniversary, and as part of it, we are reflecting on all that has happened throughout this time, and how our vision of what vision therapy could be has evolved over time.
We discuss how we came up with the idea for our unique approach to vision therapy, centered around empowering members to transform their own perception of the world and how they interact with it.
We also talk about the importance of educating parents on the foundational skills necessary for reading, which we believe has been a key component of our success.
It's interesting how our perspective has shifted over time, from feeling like we had to be the ones to make all the changes in the world, to empowering others to facilitate change themselves with the tools to become self-sufficient and confident.
In this episode you’ll hear about:

(01:36) Our definition of vision got us to where we are now.
(04:27) The mission statement we played over and over and the evolution it brought.
(10:43) Empowering the parents and caring as one of them.
(18:52) The biggest takeaways from the past 10 years.
(25:56) The plans for the next 10 years.
