Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 1 Timothy 4:7-8
But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
1 TIMOTHY 4:7-8
DEVOTION
Based on 1 Timothy 4
Paul encourages Timothy—and us—to prioritize spiritual growth over empty distractions. While physical training has some value, pursuing godliness impacts every part of life, now and forever. Godliness isn’t just about religious activity; it’s about aligning our lives with God’s heart and growing in character, humility, and faith.
Training for godliness takes daily commitment—time in the Word, prayer, resisting lies, and practicing obedience. The reward is lasting: peace now and eternal joy to come. It’s the kind of investment that transforms us from the inside out.
Take a moment tonight to reflect on what you’re training for. Breathe out distractions, and breathe in focus. Ask God to help you grow in godliness, rooted in His truth and grace.
A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION: Praise God for calling you to a life of purpose and holiness. Worship Him for the eternal rewards of growing in godliness.
CONFESSION: Reflect on areas where you’ve prioritized temporary things over spiritual growth. Confess distractions that have taken your focus from Him.
THANKSGIVING: Thank God for His patience in shaping your heart. Express gratitude for the ways He trains and strengthens you for both this life and the next.
SUPPLICATION: Father, help me to train my heart in godliness. Strengthen my desire to know You and reflect Your character. Let my priorities reflect eternal purpose, and grow me in faith, love, and discipline every day.
PRAYER
“But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
1 TIMOTHY 4:7-8
Dear Lord, You are the creator of all things. You have made humans to be multifaceted, composed of mind, body, and spirit. Give me wisdom as we cultivate all these things for Your glory. We do not want to neglect one while tending to the other. Give us wisdom on managing all these layers to health and vitality. But above all, we pray for spiritual fitness, for without it none of the other things matter. In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏🏾
