Your Daily Prayer 🙏🏾 1 Samuel 2:30
FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT ACTION: PATIENCE
Take a deep breath when you feel impatient today.
Today’s daily devotional is based on the story of The Rise of Samuel. He was attentive to the voice of God, served the Lord and his people selflessly, and was chosen by God to guide Israel in a period of darkness and uncertainty.
STORY
Bible in a Year: The Rise of Samuel
Scripture
"Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed." - 1 Samuel 2:30
Our prayers reveal the depth of our faith. They reveal the earnestness of our desires and test our resolve.
Hannah desperately desired a child. She labored in prayer. She poured herself out to God, desperate and humble. Hannah's prayer revealed the power of her faith, but it also showcased the faithfulness of God.
The story of Hannah is one of hope amid hardship, perseverance in prayer, and the fulfillment of God's promises. Despite facing the bitterness of barrenness and the taunts of her rival, Peninnah, Hannah remains steadfast in her trust in God's faithfulness.
Hannah's prayer, offered at the tabernacle in Shiloh, is a dramatic expression of her deep longing for a child and her unyielding faith in God's ability to grant her petition. In her prayer, she vows to dedicate her son to the service of the Lord if He answers her prayers. She follows through with that vow, and the entire nation of Israel is changed forever.
Little did anyone know, Hannah’s prayers would change the course of history. Her son, Samuel, would change the landscape of faith forever.
Your prayers will have a ripple effect into eternity.
Hannah's prayer serves as a model of faith and devotion for believers today. It reminds us that in our moments of deepest need, we can turn to God in prayer, trusting in His goodness and His ability to work all things together for our good. Like Hannah, we can find strength and comfort in the assurance that God hears our prayers and is faithful to His promises.
REFLECTION
Reflect on the challenges and struggles you are currently facing in your life. Are there areas where you feel barren and empty, like Hannah did? Take comfort in knowing that God hears your prayers and is able to bring beauty out of your ashes. This week, follow Hannah's example by pouring out your heart to God in prayer, trusting in His faithfulness to sustain you and fulfill His promises in His perfect timing. Allow your faith in God's promises to sustain you through your trials, knowing that He is always with you, working behind the scenes for your good and His glory.
PRAYER
Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
1 SAMUEL 2:30
Lord, I know that You are not taken back by bold prayers, so like Hanna I will not be ashamed to lay before You and make my request known! Thank You Jesus, that because of Your sacrifice I can come boldly before the Lord in prayer and make the desires of my heart known to Him. As a child of God, living in alignment with my assignment, I thank You in advance for moving and working on my behalf to bring my purpose into focus. In the same way Hannah dedicated Samuel to do Your work, I will also dedicate and devote my gifts, my promotions and all opportunities to You because my focus is to bring You glory. Therefore, I will listen when You call me, like Samuel. I will say speak Lord, for Your servant is listening because I know that one word from You is worth a thousand elsewhere. I declare that I am chosen and that I am set apart. I will live differently, speak differently, think differently, and believe differently because I’ve been called to do great things! The days of me playing small so others don’t get uncomfortable are done! You’ve placed me where I am and I am ready to receive my calling! I am Your servant, speak Lord... I’m ready. In Jesus’ Name, Amen. 🙏🏾
