The Vanderbilt’s were one of the legendary families with the Rockefeller’s, Henry Ford, JP Morgan and Andrew Carnegie, who built America. The heiress Gloria Vanderbilt was an actress, novelist and painter. An entrepreneur and business woman, she was also famous for her textiles, designs and the best-selling Vanderbilt jeans.
Married four times, she was a glamorous, cultured and fascinating subject for the documentary film maker and journalist John Swinfield. She and John spent time together in Texas and New York City.
In New York he also interviewed Jerry Della Femina about the commercial potency of the Vanderbilt name. An outspoken Madison Avenue advertising giant, Jerry is thought to be the inspiration for the global hit TV series Mad Men.
