On December 15th, 2022, Diana Cojocari arrived for a scheduled meeting at her daughter’s middle school with the guidance counselor in Cornelius, North Carolina. Her 11-year-old daughter, Madalina, hadn’t been to school in more than 3 weeks. Diana had promised to bring Madalina with her to the meeting, but she came alone. It didn’t take long for school officials to realize that something was wrong. Madalina was missing, and her mother and stepfather never reported her disappearance to police until that day at the school. What followed has been an investigation littered with inconsistent timelines, conflicting statements, and strange behavior, none of which have led to Madalina’s whereabouts. Law enforcement continues to search for the now-teenager, fully believing that she could possibly still be alive.
