State police say two troopers were struck and hurt by a driver trying to get away from a traffic stop in Allentown. The 27-year-old driver then died in a crash. Authorities tell NBC10 this happened just after midnight early this morning. They say the driver of the Ford pick-up truck didn't stop at first, but then came to a halt near 29th and Lehigh streets up in Allentown. Once the troopers tried to take the man into custody, he struck them with his truck and then fled the scene. The two officers were able to get up, get back in their car, and pursue the driver until South 12th and Vultree streets, where the man crashed into a fire hydrant, a utility pole, and eventually the Lehigh Valley Logistics Building. He was ejected from his truck and was soon pronounced dead. Both troopers were taken to the hospital but have since been released. (photo credit: Greg Wohlford/USA TODAY NETWORK)
