Dr. Michael Ebner is the James D. Vail the third Professor of History – Emeritus - at Lake Forest College. He’s been a professor for over 50 years and joined the faculty at Lake Forest in 1974.
In addition to having written extensively on America’s cities and suburbs, Dr. Ebner is the author of the book, Creating Chicago's North Shore, A Suburban History.
A long time Lake Forest resident, Dr. Ebner was active in the city’s politics in the 80’s and 90’s. He is a former chair of the Lake Forest Caucus and was a member of its Candidate Selection Committee. Dr. Ebner has also served as Chairperson of the City of Lake Forest’s Building Review Board and the Historic Preservation Committee.
