One of the worst things about COVID-19 has been the uncertainty of what happens next. Professor Walsh is a member of the disease modeling team that projects cases and hospitalizations for NPHET. These models have been a critical tool in NPHETs decision making but has their value been miscommunicated?
In this conversation I ask Professor Walsh how they project what will happen. What are the parameters they use and what are the parameters they don’t have? Can they quantify the value of masks, vaccines or the COVID pass in reducing transmission? And why are the public not given updated models which may help us with the uncertainty of the weeks ahead?
