About Jody Hardwick:

Jody Hardwick has been working as a registered dental hygienist since 1985. Two grown sons and five grandchildren fill her time outside of work. International travel and the interest of different cultures began as an exchange student to Germany at the age of 14. Her family hosted many exchange students while growing up. Furthering that interest and love of people continued at age 20 with a year of international travel with Up With People, where she met her husband, Jim. “Africa has become my ‘heart place’ to serve, combining my love of cultures and dentistry for this next season in life!”

In this episode, Jim and Jody Hardwick discuss:

  • Overcoming patient fear and creating trust in dental care
  • Building relationships and serving with joy in a lifelong career
  • The birth of their dental missions in Kenya and serving the Masai people
  • Challenges and triumphs in building sustainable dental clinics
  • The power of teamwork, faith, and community in creating ripples of impact

Key Takeaways:

  • Trust and compassion are vital in creating positive experiences. Taking the time to listen and show care can ease even deep-seated fears and build lasting relationships.
  • Small, intentional acts of service can lead to significant change. Efforts that seem small at first often grow to impact individuals, families, and communities in remarkable ways.
  • Tackling major challenges is possible through teamwork and perseverance. When faith and collaboration align, even the most daunting tasks can be accomplished.
  • A life of purpose comes from serving others. Fulfillment stems not from what you achieve for yourself but from the connections you build and the lives you touch.

"It would be the greatest mistake in life to do nothing because you could only do a little. So do what you can."
