After Trump's National Security advisor, Mike Waltz, included Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg to a chat group discussing the classified, imminent bombing of Houthi rebels in Yemen, we had Matt Hefler on to talk about how contents of that chat would land with US allies.

Within the chat, senior members of the Trump administration speculated on asking allies for remuneration for security actions taken by US military assets.

Matt Hefler's research focuses on the role of intelligence, subversion, and the activities of secret services within international diplomacy.

He's currently an Ax:son Johnson Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Statecraft and Strategic Communication at the Stockholm school of Economics..
