Douglas Council introducing a maintenance strategy and budget for parks

Douglas Council will be introducing a maintenance programme and budget to support the management of its parks.

Chair of the Regeneration and Community Committee Natalie Byron-Teare says 'historically' there hasn't been a programme, but believes if the money is being spent on new equipment it should be maintained to a high standard.

The local authority is in charge of 15 play areas, five of which are in Noble's Park, and does not currently have funding set aside to fix 'routine' issues.

Councillor Byron-Teare hopes to do some 'community engagement' to see what people would like in the play areas.

Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to her.
