Russia launched an overnight drone and missile attack across Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. In Kyiv, at least nine people were killed and around 70 others were injured in the strikes. In the city’s Sviatoshynskyi district, a residential building was destroyed, and rescue teams are working at the site, sifting through rubble, from which the sounds of ringing phones can still be heard, Klymenko wrote.
Russia also struck the Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions, Klymenko said.
In Kharkiv, missile and drone strikes damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, sparking large fires, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported. Firefighters had to extinguish around 40 fires caused by the attack.
