Surf's up, beach lovers! The National Weather Service is dropping some serious coastal intel for our New York shorelines.
Today's looking like a beach day with a twist. We're riding moderate rip current conditions across all our favorite sandy spots from Coney Island to the Hamptons. Expect waves around 2 to 3 feet - perfect for casual surfing but requiring some serious respect.
The UV index is cranking up to very high, so sunscreen isn't just recommended - it's mandatory. Temperatures are hovering in the upper 70s with east winds dancing between 15 to 20 miles per hour. Water's sitting pretty at a comfortable 70 degrees near Brooklyn and Queens, cooling down to upper 60s as you head east.
Clouds will be playing peek-a-boo today - partly sunny with a slight chance of surprise showers. Nothing that'll ruin your beach vibe, but enough to keep things interesting. High tides are rolling in mid-morning around 9 AM, with low tide hitting mid-afternoon.
Pro surfer safety tip: Those rip currents are no joke. Stay near lifeguards, bring a flotation device, and if you get caught in a current, don't fight it. Relax, float, and signal for help if needed.
Weekend forecast looks similar - mostly cloudy with occasional shower chances. Winds will mellow out, temperatures will stay consistent, and those moderate rip current risks persist.
Sunrise catches the early birds at around 5:30 AM, with sunset providing a killer beach backdrop around 8:30 PM.
Stay safe, stay cool, and catch those waves responsibly!
